The electric motor has acquired universal importance due to wide adoption of electric vehicles (EVs). Acquiring the skillset of analysis and design of different types of motors becomes essential for electrical engineers. COMSOL Multiphysics is a software which provides the flexibility to model different kinds of rotating machines, get insights into the working of the machines as well as experiment with various driving methodologies along with performance assessment. This course is designed with all these factors in mind.
This course will empower you to model different types of motors. We will begin with the basics of modeling a Permanent Magnet Motor (PMM), and get insights into the electromagnetics of torque production. The tutorials will progressively build up by examining the synchronous torque, induced stator coil voltages, iron and copper losses and getting the temperature rise in the motor. We will learn how to obtain the torque speed curve of an induction motor and get its dynamic response. Finally, you will learn how to model magnetic gears and axial flux motors.
