The EU AI Act is in force. The NIST AI Risk Management Framework is referenced in government procurement contracts. ISO 42001 is being mandated by enterprise clients across financial services, healthcare, and critical infrastructure. And ISACA has responded to this shift with a new advanced credential - the AAIR - designed specifically for credentialled IT risk professionals who need a structured, exam-validated framework for managing AI-specific risk at enterprise scale.
This course is the complete preparation programme for the ISACA Advanced in AI Risk certification.
AAIR launched in April 2026. It is a 90-question, scenario-based exam that tests applied judgment - not definitions. The prerequisite is an existing ISACA or equivalent credential: CISA, CRISC, CISM, CISSP, CGEIT, or CDPSE. The exam covers three domains: AI Risk Governance and Framework Integration, AI Lifecycle Risk Management, and AI Risk Program Management. This course covers all three domains in full, building from framework mastery through applied lifecycle risk to program design and board-level communication.
The governance section covers the full regulatory landscape: NIST AI RMF 1.0 function by function, ISO 42001 AIMS Requirements and Annex A controls, ISO 23894 AI risk management guidance, and the EU AI Act risk tier structure, provider and deployer obligations, and phased compliance timeline. It also covers sectoral frameworks - SR 11-7 for financial services, FDA SaMD for healthcare AI, and CISA guidance for critical infrastructure - and the ISACA Digital Trust Ecosystem Framework that underpins the AAIR exam's conceptual lens.
The AI lifecycle risk section covers what the AAIR exam tests most directly: data quality, bias, and lineage risk; model drift, validation Requirements, and SR 11-7 applied to AI; fairness metrics and explainability obligations under GDPR and the EU AI Act; OWASP LLM Top 10 applied to enterprise AI deployments; MITRE ATLAS tactics and techniques for AI system threat modelling; AI red teaming methodology; third-party and vendor AI due diligence; and AI incident management including EU AI Act serious incident reporting obligations.
