Indian state of Karnataka, has been sent to 14-day judicial remand after being arrested for allegedly performing black magic on a judge. It is being said that she was doing this to win a civil case she was hearing.
According to 'ETV Bharat', the police said the woman sprinkled white mustard on the judge's chair and dais in an attempt to influence the decision in a land dispute case she was hearing.
The accused, identified as Manjula, a resident of Chikkaballapura city, was arrested after she was allegedly seen sprinkling white mustard seeds on the judge's chair in CCTV footage
Thursday, July 9 at 9:30 am in the First Additional Civil and JMFC Court in Chikkaballapura city.
When the court staff saw white mustard scattered on the judge's chair, they immediately checked the CCTV footage, in which the woman was seen doing this. After the incident, the court administrator registered a case against the woman at the Chikkaballapura police station.
According to the district's Superintendent of Police Kushal Choksi, the accused confessed that she had practiced black magic.
"A case has been registered at the Chikkaballapura City Police Station under the Karnataka Prevention of Witchcraft Act 2017. It has come to light that a woman had sprinkled white mustard on the judge's chair and table. A case was registered on the complaint of the court staff and the woman was taken into custody," he said.
He added, "Her land case was heard on Thursday. The accused confessed during the hearing that she had practiced black magic with the belief that it would help her win the case. The woman was arrested and presented in court and has been sent to 14-day judicial custody."
