The YU7’s Interior Space Is Limited, but Its Stylish Design Makes It a Standout Crossover

The YU7

The Xiaomi YU7 is anticipated to hit the Chinese market in June. According to Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, the company has sold 258,000 units of the SU7 sedan since its debut last year. At present, there are no official plans to introduce either the SU7 or YU7 to international markets.

The YU7 made its official debut this week, and some local Chinese media and influencers have had a chance to see the car in person, though only in a stationary setup. Notably, the YouTube channel Telescope may be the first English-language outlet to get hands-on experience with the YU7.

Reviewer Zhou shared some concerns about the cabin space. While the YU7 draws visual inspiration from the Ferrari Purosangue, featuring an extended hood, it lacks a large V12 engine under the front. Instead, it offers a spacious front trunk, which seems to compromise interior volume. Zhou described the space inside as adequate but questioned whether a more people-centered design might have improved comfort.

It’s widely recognized that both the YU7 and SU7 draw heavily from premium Western car aesthetics. The YU7, in particular, could be compared to how Steve Madden produces affordable versions of high-fashion designs. Similarly, Xiaomi appears to have replicated the essence of luxury vehicle styling while keeping it within reach for more budget-conscious consumers.

Looking ahead, the YU7 might surpass the SU7 in popularity. However, Xiaomi will need to maintain high manufacturing standards, especially since some SU7 owners have recently raised concerns about quality.
