Klein Vision has officially announced that its innovative AirCar — a certified flying car — is set for commercial release in 2026. This dual-purpose vehicle, which can operate both on roads and in the sky, will be priced between $800,000 and $1 million, depending on the model variant. It marks a historic moment as the first mass-produced flying car in more than seven decades, representing a significant advancement in both the automotive and aviation sectors.
Company founder Stefan Klein expressed his enthusiasm about the development, describing the AirCar as the fulfillment of a lifelong ambition to make flight accessible to everyday individuals. The vehicle has already completed extensive testing, including over 170 hours of flight time and more than 500 takeoffs and landings. It was recently presented at the prestigious Living Legends of Aviation Gala in Beverly Hills, where Klein received a Special Recognition Award for Engineering Excellence.
The AirCar seamlessly transitions between car and aircraft, featuring a design that allows it to switch modes in under two minutes. Key to this capability are its retractable wings, foldable tail, and a built-in parachute system for safety. In the air, the AirCar can fly at speeds up to 135 knots (155 mph) and has a range of 620 miles. It can ascend to altitudes of 10,000 feet, with the possibility of higher elevations when using supplemental oxygen. On the ground, it performs like a high-performance sports car, reaching speeds of up to 124 mph and covering up to 497 miles on a full tank.
According to Anton Zajac, co-founder of Klein Vision, the vision behind the AirCar is to deliver a truly versatile vehicle that performs equally well on the road and in the sky — without compromising on efficiency or safety.
By merging cutting-edge aviation technology with automotive design, the AirCar is poised to redefine personal travel. Its upcoming release in 2026 may very well usher in a new era where flying cars become part of everyday life.
