The Tokyo-based Shinsei Galverse NFT project announced on Thursday that its highly anticipated anime will premiere this summer. While the staff behind the project was revealed, the anime’s specific format remains undisclosed.
News says Ayaka Ōhira, the founder of Shinsei Galverse, is credited as the creator and chief director of the anime, which will be produced at S.o.K. Co-directing the project is Yūta Takamura, known for his work on JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable and The Most Notorious “Talker” Runs the World’s Greatest Clan.
The script is being written by Natsuko Takahashi, who has worked on Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, My Love Story!!, and Anne Shirley, alongside Masahiro Okubo, known for his scriptwriting on Cardfight!! Vanguard overDress and Cardfight!! Vanguard will+Dress. Character design is being handled by Satoshi Ishino, who has worked on Puni Puni Poemy and Tokyo Mew Mew New, with Momo Nagayama serving as the sub-character designer.
Other key members of the team include Ryō Hirata, who is designing the props, and Yang Liu (Ogura Kobo), who is creating the background art. Miyoko Ichinose is responsible for the color key work, while Tsai Po Lun is overseeing compositing as the director of photography. Kentarō Tsubone is editing the series, with Jin Aketagawa as the sound director and Tsutomu Ueno handling sound effects. ARCH is credited as the producer.
In 2023, singer Tove Lo collaborated with the Shinsei Galverse NFT project for the animated music video of her song “I Like U.”
Ōhira, who has a background in traditional cel animation, previously worked with renowned figures such as Yōji Kuri and Manabu Ōhashi. Before founding the Galverse project, she directed music videos for artists like m-flo, JP THE WAVY, and CHAI.
Shinsei Galverse is described as a project aimed at “empowering our community through next-generation technologies like digital collectibles, VTubers, and custom AI” to tell the story of “8,888 fierce Gals traveling through time and space to improve the galaxy.”
According to the news Gals are available for purchase on OpenSea.
Looking ahead, Ōhira and the Tokyo-based NFT, blockchain, and Web3 development firm Wagmi Labs Inc. are planning to release a Shinsei Galverse anime pilot next year.
