‘Grandpa robbers’ held Kim Kardashian at gunpoint – but didn’t know who she was

In a bizarre twist that sounds straight out of a movie script, the infamous 2016 Paris robbery involving Kim Kardashian is back in the spotlight — and this time, it’s the robbers' surprising confession making headlines.

According to newly surfaced reports, some of the elderly thieves involved in the heist, dubbed the "Grandpa Robbers" because of their advanced ages (many were in their 60s and 70s), admitted they didn’t even know who Kim Kardashian was when they orchestrated the attack.

The robbery, which took place at a private luxury residence during Paris Fashion Week, shocked the world. Kardashian was held at gunpoint, tied up, and robbed of nearly $10 million worth of jewelry, including her now-famous diamond engagement ring.

At the time, many assumed the attack was highly targeted, given Kim’s global fame and her public display of her lavish lifestyle on social media. However, as it turns out, the criminals were more focused on the jewelry itself — and much less impressed with the celebrity attached to it.

One of the robbers, Yunis Abbas, even remarked in an interview that he had never heard of Kim Kardashian before the heist planning began. "I saw one of her shows after the robbery," Abbas said. "I didn't know anything about her. Frankly, I wasn’t interested."

The revelation adds a strange layer to an already surreal crime. Here was one of the world’s most famous women, robbed in one of the world’s most glamorous cities — and the culprits were a group of aging thieves who didn’t even recognize their high-profile target.

Despite their lack of star knowledge, the "Grandpa Robbers" meticulously planned the robbery, exploiting security weaknesses and Kim’s public social media posts to pinpoint the best time to strike.

The traumatic event had a lasting impact on Kardashian, who has since spoken publicly about how it changed her relationship with fame, security, and material possessions. In the aftermath, she dramatically scaled back how much of her personal life she shares online, especially when it comes to her whereabouts and luxury items.

As the case continues to be dissected, one thing is clear: fame and fortune may make you a target, but it doesn’t guarantee that your attackers will even know who you are.

And for Kim Kardashian, surviving a robbery by criminals who were apparently immune to her celebrity status is yet another wild chapter in a life that's often stranger than fiction.
